Michael O. Ware

Picture of MIke WareMichael O. Ware was selected by Senator Larry E. Craig to be his Chief of Staff in January of 1997. Prior to joining Senator Craig, Mr. Ware was the Director of Strategic Planning and Congressional Affairs for the Republican National Committee under the Chairmanship of Haley Barbour.

Mr. Ware went to the Republican National Committee in 1993 from the Washington office of Conoco, where he became Manager of Congressional Affairs for this multi-billion dollar oil company. He also managed the Washington office for this Houston based oil company. Mr. Ware was with Conoco, Inc. for sixteen years, joining them from the National Association of Manufacturers. Here Mr. Ware held the position of Director of Government Affairs.

Prior to working for the National Association of Manufacturers, Mr. Ware was the Director of House Liaison for the Federal Energy Administration, the forerunner of the Department of Energy in the Ford Administration.

Mr. Ware has also worked on Capitol Hill for Representative David C. Treen (Republican – Louisiana), in addition to the Senate Steering Committee and for the House Republican Steering Committee.

Mr. Ware holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. He currently serves on the Foundation Board of Adams State, in addition to the Board of Regents of the Congressional Schools of Virginia.

Mr. Ware is married to Dena Wiggins, who is a senior partner in the law firm of Bullard Spahr. They have two sons, Brendan and Bailey, and are lifelong residents of the Washington area.
